Transfiguration Monastery

The Transfiguration Monastery of the Voznesensk eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church stands in the settlement of Domanivka in the Mykolaiv region. The house is young: it was established by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at its session of 25 September 2018, by journal No. 20¹.

It did not arise on empty ground. The Synod act states that the monastery was formed on the site of a parish in honour of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky in the settlement of Domanivka, Domanivka raion, Mykolaiv region; by the same journal the Synod adopted and registered the statute of the house¹.

According to the annual report of the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, seven monastic houses were established in the Church that year, two for men and five for women. The report names the Domanivka house among the two men's houses, with the date of the act and the number of the journal².

The first feast of the Transfiguration in the life of the monastery fell on 19 August 2019. On that day Archbishop Oleksiy of Voznesensk and Pervomaisk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the house and blessed the fruits after the prayer behind the ambo³.

In the autumn of the same year, on 13 October 2019, the same hierarch again celebrated the Liturgy here, after which a moleben was served invoking the help of the Holy Spirit before the beginning of every good work. In the eparchy's report of that service he is called the sacred archimandrite of the house⁴.

On 31 December 2019 a Liturgy was celebrated in the monastery, at which the clergy of the Domanivka deanery concelebrated with the hierarch. By the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the hierarch decorated the donors, benefactors and adorners of the house with the order of Saint Nicholas and with hierarchical certificates⁵.

At the next Transfiguration, on 19 August 2020, a diaconal ordination was performed at the Liturgy in the monastery over a resident of the house, the novice Theodore⁶. On the same day the blagochynny of the house received the right to wear the nabedrennik, and the fruits of the new harvest were blessed after the prayer behind the ambo⁶.

The monastery became a place of joint services of the Domanivka deanery. On 9 January 2021, the day of the memory of the Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen, the clergy of the Domanivka raion celebrated a joint service here headed by the dean of the district⁷, and on 4 May 2021, the Tuesday of Bright Week, the appointed services were held in the house with a cross procession attended by the clergy of the deanery⁸.

On 19 August 2021 Archbishop Oleksiy again led the Liturgy of the Transfiguration in the monastery and, as the eparchy noted, blessed the fruits of the new harvest according to tradition⁹.
