Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity and their mother Sophia male metochion

The Tarashcha raion has belonged to the Bila Tserkva eparchy since the eparchy was created: on 29 July 1994 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church resolved to form the Bila Tserkva eparchy out of the Kyiv one, and included in it, among others, the Tarashcha raion⁴.

In 2007 a Tarashcha businessman gave the Orthodox Church a large unfinished three-storey building — without a roof, without windows, with part of a wall unbuilt. It stands in the park zone of the central part of the town, not far from the market and the old cemetery¹. With the blessing of the Archbishop of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav a church of the Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and their Mother Sophia was arranged inside it¹.

On 23 September 2008 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church blessed the opening of a monastery in honour of the Holy Royal Martyrs in the Tarashcha raion of the Bila Tserkva eparchy³. When that monastery opened, the Tarashcha church became its podvirya¹.

In the first three years the brickwork on the podvirya was completed, a fence and stairs were built, partitions, arched vaults and windows were made, and above all two churches were fitted out, an upper summer one and a lower winter one². The tasks still ahead were raising the dome, roofing the building, bringing in heating at least for the lower church, and preparing the lower church for consecration².

Services on the podvirya are held every Saturday evening at 16.00 and every Sunday at 7.30, and also on the Twelve Great Feasts and the Great Feasts¹. There are two patronal days: 30 September, of the Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and their Mother Sophia, and 10 March — 9 March in leap years — of St Tarasius, Patriarch of Constantinople¹. The eparchy lists the parish of the Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and Sophia of the town of Tarashcha among the parishes of the Tarashcha deanery⁵.
