History:
The Holy Dormition women's skete arose in 2006 in the town of Zhdanivka in the Donetsk region, when the local parish church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos was converted into a skete of the monastery dedicated to the Kasperivska Icon of the Mother of God2.
The opening of this skete as a canonical subdivision of that monastery was confirmed by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on 21 February 2012 (Journal No. 20), at a session chaired by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, upon the report of Metropolitan Ilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol1.
