History:
The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God female skete arose in 2013 in the village of Plavni, Vasyliv district, Zaporizhzhia region, at a parish in honour of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, as a canonical division of St. Nicholas's Convent in the city of Zaporizhzhia1.
Its opening was blessed by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at its session of 15 March 2013, by journal no. 33, having heard the report of His Grace the Archbishop of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol1. At the same session the Synod also blessed the registration of the newly-formed skete's statute1.
