St. Xenia of Saint Petersburg's Convent

The convent in honour of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg stands in the village of Molnytsia, Hertsa district, Chernivtsi region¹. The house arose on the site of the skete in honour of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg attached to the Holy Ascension Banchenskyi men's monastery^{1, 2, 3}.

The skete was consecrated on 6 June 2014, the day of the glorification of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg, which took place in 1988². On that day the Locum Tenens of the Kyiv metropolitan see, Metropolitan Onufriy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, visited the Banchenskyi Holy Ascension men's monastery and performed the consecration of the skete of St Xenia, which stands not far from that house². At the consecration and the Divine Liturgy he was concelebrated by Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets, Metropolitan Havryil of Lovech of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and Archbishop Meletiy of Khotyn, together with the clergy of the monastery and of the eparchy². After the service Metropolitan Onufriy consecrated the building for the disabled children who are brought up at the skete².

Three and a half years later the skete became a house in its own right. On 21 December 2017 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church resolved to form new monasteries and to confirm their statutes in various eparchies: on that day three women's houses and one men's house were formed in all - in the eparchies of Boryspil, Dnipropetrovsk, Horlivka and Chernivtsi-Bukovyna³. By Journal No. 39 of that same session, on the report of Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, the Synod blessed the forming of the convent in honour of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna eparchy on the site of the skete at the Holy Ascension Banchenskyi monastery, and the acceptance and registration of that house's statute¹.
