History:
St. John the Forerunner's Monastery in the village of Chuhynka, Stanychno-Luhansk district, Luhansk region, was established on 31 May 2007, when a Synod act blessed the opening of a men's monastery in this village in honour of the Holy Prophet of God Elijah1.
The monastery's own site describes this same event as the transformation into a monastery of the local parish of the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, opened in 1994, and reports that the new community was given the buildings of a closed kindergarten2.
